What is ‘Gift Aid’
When you give money to the Church, Gift Aid is a simple and easy way of the Church getting your tax back from the government.

So what does it mean?
It means that if you are a taxpayer, the Church can get back the tax on all the money you give the to Church.
FOR EVERY £1 YOU GIVE, THE CHURCH WILL GET AN EXTRA 28p BACK FROM THE GOVERNMENT.
The Church can only get tax back if you are paying enough tax in the first place.
Whether that’s income tax or capital gains tax.
For example; for every £100 a year you give the Church, you must be paying at least £28 tax a year.

How does it work?
It’s easiest for us if you complete a ‘Gift Aid’ declaration form and put it in the Presbytery letterbox, addressed to the ‘Gift Aid Organiser’.
For us to claim the money back, there has to be a record of what you have given.  Please help us by using the envelopes we will give you for any money you give in cash. If you give by cheque or standing order, you will only need envelopes for any extra money you give in cash.

On-Line Offertory If you would prefer to pay your weekly offering by card instead of cash, there is a new facility: the QR codes are on display in the porch and on the parish website under the heading parish contributions. 

Reminder for GIFTAID DONORS We kindly request that current GiftAid Donors who have not paid any Taxes since 6 April 2022 and those who are not likely to pay any taxes from 6 April 2023 to inform us accordingly. Please email admin@ssppilford.org.uk or phone the parish office.

Banking of coins Banks charge for paying in coins, therefore, if at all possible, please support the work, running and mission of the parish by setting up a standing order via your online banking. 

If you donate via standing order, please put your Surname and First name as a reference.  If you are part of the Gift Aid scheme, then please also add your Gift Aid number.  So a typical reference might be: “Gift Aid number – Surname and First Name”

By entering this reference our Gift Aid Organiser will be able to make sure that your generosity is increased in line with the Gift Aid regulations.

Please note that setting up a monthly standing order is preferable instead of weekly, in order to reduce the administrative burden.
