It was a most stimulating and provocative afternoon for our young people. Listening to Barry and Margaret Mizen speak about the death of their son and how their faith has carried them ever since; and Bishop Alan on the value of perseverance and prayer.
Today, hosted by SS. Peter & Paul’s Catholic Primary, Lord Bourne of Aberystwyth visited the parish to offer his condolences to the Sri-Lankan community and to find out what involvement the parish has in multi-faith activities. We were glad to to be able to present to him information about Project Malachi, a multi-faith initiative to support those sleeping rough in Ilford, in which the parish is involved. He was greeted by the school’s pupil ambassadors who also asked him questions about promoting community cohesion.
Listen to the motivation that young and old have in their compassion for those who are homeless:

Many of our young people from all over the diocese will be sleeping under the stars on Friday to publicise the plight of rough sleepers and to raise money through sponsorship to support charities that provide shelter and support to the homeless. This will take place at Walsingham House, Abbotswick, the home of BCYS. We are intending to live-stream some of this event so that you can hear testimony from our young people as to their motivation in taking part and also from someone who has been homeless in the past. Go to our Live Streaming – Remote Events tab to view this on Friday from about 7.15pm
On Saturday last, 9th March, the Diocese Stewards of the Gospel met to
hear about, and consider, the potential evangelisation opportunities from the appointment of paid Parish Group Youth Co-ordinators. Fr. Dominic Howarth and Joe Beattie from BCYS gave inspiring presentations full of sound, practical advice.
An edited video version of the days proceedings will be available to view soon, otherwise the streamed version of the mornings sessions can be found here
Several documents from the Youth Synod in 2018 have been produced and can be found here
In order to try to improve the style and content of our website we’ve made a few changes. These changes will continue to be made over the next few days. The previous content is still available as before.
We now have a date for completion of construction. Building on site will start a.s.a.p. and the project should begin on 31st August 2019. In the meantime the Winter Night Shelter will remain open until the completion date.
Paul Samuels, who has been the parish Steward of the Gospel for sometime now, is joined by Clare D’Netto who will help with the Parish Group strategy, for the diocesan plan for Renewal and Re-Development. We welcome her to this important ministry and hope you will pray for her and the diocesan plan.
